What actually happens

JPEG leaves clues. The trace turns those clues into shapes.

A JPG is a grid of compressed pixels. Vectorize groups the visible color regions, follows their boundaries and writes geometric SVG paths that you can review before export.

    JPEG adds a solid background and can introduce halos or block noise around high-contrast edges.

    Edges become curves

    The tracer approximates those edges with vector paths. Smooth curves and fewer colors usually produce cleaner geometry.

    Compare the result, remove an unwanted background, refine the palette and download the approved SVG.

Before you export

Check the parts compression damages first.

  • Use the largest JPG you have; enlarging a tiny file cannot restore detail.
  • Compare letters, tight gaps and sharp corners before downloading.
  • Hide the flat JPG background only when it is not part of the mark.
  • Use manual redrawing for brand-critical geometry that the pixels no longer describe.

Logos, icons and flat graphics are good candidates. Photographs, tiny lettering, soft shadows and complex gradients often need a different workflow or a manual redraw.
